First developed in 2008 by CJM Solutions, LLC, Poker Copilot is a hand-tracking software tool for online poker players. It is currently in its sixth iteration – Poker Copilot 6 – which was released in 2017.

Using accumulated data to find the mathematical errors in your game, tracking software like Poker Copilot is essential if you are at all serious about your online poker game.

Poker Copilot features a poker HUD (Heads-Up Display) and a poker hand tracker. There is also a leak detector and hand replayer so you can work on your game away from the online tables.

In addition to the standard stats available on poker HUDs – pre-flop raise percentage (PFR), money voluntarily put in the pot (VPIP) and aggression factor (AF) – Poker Copilot 6 added over 40 new statistics to analyse both your and your opponents’ play.

While all that may sound confusing to the uninitiated, one of the best things about Poker Copilot is its simplicity. Unlike other similar tools on the market, it works straight out of the box. It does not require PostgreSQL database creation and additional software to run – simply plug it in and play.

That comes from its origins as a piece of Mac software as it was developed for OS X specifically. Poker Copilot has built on its solid 12-year reputation and is PC compatible.

Pros & Cons

Poker Copilots’ Mac origins provide its best feature, which is its simplicity of use. Like the vast majority of Mac software, it looks clean and is uncomplicated and straightforward to operate. This makes it by far the best poker tracking software for players unfamiliar with the intricacies involved in getting the most out of these valuable online poker tools.

There is also a wealth of articles available on the Poker Copilot website that explains what all these statistics like VPIP and PFR actually mean, and how you can apply them to your game and improve your play.

The leak detector provides a breakdown of positional play without having to dive deep into hand dissection. However, the software also provides this feature too, enabling the user to review previous hands versus all opponents played and then break down their play.

One unique function offered by Poker Copilot is its ‘Session Overview’ function, which enables a player to track wins and losses in-game. This is great for bankroll management, allowing the user to see their hourly rate for the session. However, there is no in-game comprehensive breakdown by table function available, which is something other software on the market offers.

This is also true when it comes to the consideration of additional tools available, with no game/table selection software offered. The free PokerZebra software offered by Poker Copilot provides Mac users a useful tool when it comes to calculating the odds behind poker hands and solving ICM calculations – definitely a bonus when you consider the unavailability of the free PokerStove software for Mac.

The online user guide is comprehensive and covers the most common questions raised. Poker Copilot also offers support in multiple languages. While response time may not be as good as the competition, there is a solid support network provided for all users. The software is robust, regularly updated and most problems can be solved by reading the online user manual.

Poker Copilot beats the competition hands down when it comes to price. With a reasonable US$99 price tag, it also offers users a free 30-day trial. This includes functionality for No-Limit Hold’em and Pot-Limit Omaha, and works for cash games and tournaments at stakes of all levels.

While the other tracking software on the market starts at US$60, that’s just for low stakes. If you want functionality for PLO included, that’s $100. Hold’em for all stakes is $100 from Poker Copilots’ competition. If you want NLHE and PLO for all stakes, that comes with a $160 price tag, making Poker Copilot the best value for money.

While Poker Copilots’ PLO functionality comes at no additional cost, it’s not as good as the competition. The ‘Hand Type’ breakdowns offered for NLHE are not available for PLO. While this isn’t that big of a deal if you are a casual PLO player, those serious about PLO should consider the other options on the market. That’s not to say Poker Copilots’ PLO functionality isn’t good, it’s just not as good as the other options available.

Pros / Cons
  • Price – Solid value for money
  • Functionality – Extremely easy to use
  • Best tracking software for Mac
  • Limited PLO functionality
  • No available game selection plugins
  • Online support good, but could be better

A solid purchase for any Mac user serious about their online poker game. Poker Copilot offers ease of use, and a great deal of computational power behind it’s clean and simple exterior. The fact users do not need to create an additional PostgreSQL database or plugin other software make it the best for ‘out of box’ use. Combine this with the US$99 price tag and you have excellent value for money that can be paid off in just a couple of online sessions of low-stakes poker. With the software available with a free 30-day trial with the below link, there’s no reason not to give it a try.

Price: 10/10

Significantly cheaper than other tracking software on the market. The US$99 price tag covers NLHE and PLO for all stakes, meaning Poker Copilot wins hands down on price.

Support: 7/10

There is a solid online support page. However, compared to other tracking software on the market, response times are a great deal slower. Having said that, there is a comprehensive user guide that answers most questions when it comes to installing and troubleshooting.

Accessibility: 9/10

Poker Copilots’ origins as a piece of Mac software make it super simple and easy to use. There is no need to create a separate PostgreSQL database or install additional software.

Functionality: 7/10

Not as in-depth as other tracking software when it comes to hand analysis. However, the built-in hand replayer is good. There are a plethora of stats available for review and a great deal of functionality under the hood.

Add Ons: 5/10

Aside from the above mentioned PokerZebra there are no add ons available for Poker Copilot when it comes to table and game selection. There is only limited functionality when it comes to ICM tools.

Total Score: 38/50 – 3.8 Stars
